Ratha Yathra marks 1000th birth anniversary of Sri Ramanujacharya

Mysuru: Ramanuja Jyothi Bhakthi Ratha Yatra, which has been touring various parts of the State to mark the 1000th birth anniversary, arrived in city after touring Bengaluru. The yathra vehicle was given a grand welcome at Kote Anjaneya Swamy Temple by members and office-bearers of Sri Ramanuja Sahasramanotsava Samithi and Mysore Zilla and Nagara Brahmana Sabha this morning.

The rathra yatra which arrived near the temple toured the entire Palace premises before travelling towards Parakala Mutt after coming out of Karikallu Thotti Gate and travelling on the Sayyaji Rao Road.  The vehicle carrying the statue of Sri Ramanujacharya has visited Sriperambudur in Tamil Nadu, the birth place of the Saint before travelling across Kanchipuram, Maduranthaka, Bengaluru, Raichur, Davanagere, Shivamogga, Udupi, Bhadravathi, Channarayanapatna, Hassan, Mandya, Srirangapatna, T. Narasipura, Nanjangud and other places.

The yathra will travel across various locations in the city before heading towards Ravandur in Periyapatna where it is expected stay overnight. The yathra ends at the Yadugiri Yathiraj Mutt located at Malleshwaram in Bengaluru on May 1.

Sri Ramanuja Sahasramanotsava Samithi Working President B.S. Parthasarathy, President H.V. Rajeev, Social Worker K. Raghuram, Mysore Zilla and Nagara Brahmna Sabha President D.T. Prakash, Corporator M.V. Ramprasad and others were present.
