Reinstating Musical Lineage: One more concert at Mysore Vasudevacharya’s House

Vidushi Prarthana Sai Narasimhan, yet another established artiste in the musical lineage of Sangeetha  Kalanidhi Mysore Vasudevacharya, will be presenting a vocal recital on Saturday, the 12th January, at the famed composer’s house in the city. She is being accompanied by Vidushi V. Shruti on violin and Vid. Saishivu Laksmikeshav on mridanga. The concert scheduled for 7 pm is open to all music-lovers.

Profile: Born at Suratkal, Dakshina Kannada, Prarthana had her initiation into music by her parents P. Nityananda Rao, a Yakshagana singer and Krishnakumari, a Karnatak vocalist. She moved to Chennai in 1996 to learn from Padma Shri Dr. Mani Krishnaswami, who was a direct disciple of  Sangeetha Kalanidhi Mysore Vasudevacharya. Later she underwent advanced training in music from Sangeetha Kala Acharya Chingleput Ranganathan.

She has served as a lecturer at Music Academy’s Teachers College of Music and is a “B-High” grade artiste of All India Radio, where she has been performing regularly. Prarthana has given more than 500 concerts and conducted more than 25 workshops all over India.

Prarthana is married to Flautist and Music composer Sai Narasimhan, son of  Chingleput Ranganathan.
