Mysore/Mysuru: Four books on Buddhism brought out by Prof. S. Shivaji Jois as Editor will be released in a function organised under the joint aegis of Saptaswara Balaga Trust, Samvahana Prakashana and Mysore University Retired Degree College Lecturers Association, on Mar. 26 at RamaGovinda Rangamandira in Ramakrishnanagar at 5 pm.
Announcing this at a press meet in city on Thursday, Trust Treasurer Prof. H.G. Krishnappa said that four books titled ‘Buddhana Jeevana Mattu Bodhane’, ‘Bidare Ashwathnarayana Shastri Avara Bouddha Krutigalu’, ‘Dhamma Pada; Bouddha Bhikku – Bouddha Vidwamsara Drishtiyalli’ and ‘Tatagatha Buddha Torida Dhammapada’ will be released at the ceremony.
Suttur Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji will grace the occasion. Veteran scholar Dr. T.V. Venkatachala Sastry will preside and release the books. Chamarajanagar MP V. Sreenivasa Prasad and Bhikku Dr. Kalyanasiri Bhanteji of Vishwamaitri Buddha Vihar will be the chief guests. Scholar Dr. Kabbinale Vasanth Bharadwaj will speak about the books.
A music and dance festival in commemoration of Ganayogi Sri Panchakshara Gawai is also organised on the occasion. Danseuse Dr. Kripa Phadke and troupe will be presenting a dance ballet ‘Buddham Sharanam Gachchami’ on the life and times of Buddha.
Under the banner ‘Ondu Pradarshana Samagra Buddha Darshana’, a three-day book exhibition is also organised from Mar. 26 to 28, from 11 am to 7 pm and 1,000 books will be available. Interested researchers may make use of this exhibition, added Krishnappa.
