Mysuru: “Instead of calling all burial grounds and crematoria in city by different names, they should be named as ‘Mokshadhama.’ We will put up this proposal at the next Council Meeting,” said Corporators Ashwini Sharat and Pallavi Begum.
They were speaking after launching ‘Dhamma Deepotsava’ by lighting the lamp at Vidyaranyapuram burial ground in city on the occasion of last Monday of Karthika Masa.
“The team lead by Surendra Kumar, who is in-charge of Vidyaranyapuram burial ground, has taken the initiative of organising ‘Dhamma Deepotsava’ to pay tribute to our elders by lighting lamps and rendering music, which is a commendable job. This kind of meaningful event should be organised by local residents at their respective graveyards in city,” they added.
Jai Bharat Band and team played instrumental music on the occasion. Corporator Sharadamma Eshwar, Shantaraju of Dalit Welfare Trust, leaders P. Raju, Siddu Swamy, Annaiah, Adi Karnataka Mahasamsthe President Vijay Kumar and others were present.
