Renovated Anatomy Museum inaugurated at JSS

Mysore/Mysuru: The renovated Anatomy Museum of JSS Medical College was inaugurated on July 28 by chief guest S.P. Manjunath, Secretary of JSS Mahavidyapeetha, by lighting the lamp. 

Dr. C.G. Betsurmath, Executive Secretary, JSS Mahavidyapeetha, launched HIDI, a mobile application for medical students in learning Histology and Bar Codes of Museum specimens.

Dr. Surinder Singh, Vice-Chancellor, JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research (JSS AHER),  Dr. P.A. Kushalappa, Director-Academics, JSS AHER, Dr. B. Manjunatha, Registrar, JSS AHER, College Principal Dr. H. Basavanagowdappa, Vice-Principals Dr. M.N. Suma and Dr. G.V. Manjunath, Administrative Officer Sathish Chandra and Head of the Department with faculties of Anatomy were present on this occasion.

The Museum exhibits a wide collection of specimens ranging from dissected human parts, foetuses showing different stages of development and rare congenital anomaly specimen, skeletons, embryology models, charts and plastinated specimens. 

Bar Coding provides details about the specimens through audio and video mode. Each specimen is displayed with relevant description and images.  The Museum creates awareness not only to health profession students but also to public and school children on health issues. It is open to public and students free of cost. School and College students of Mysuru and surrounding districts have been visiting Anatomy Museum to learn about body parts. On an average of 20 Schools and Colleges (50-200 students) visit the Museum every year.
