Mysore/Mysuru: Veteran Kannada writer Vasumathi Udupa was felicitated recently by Lekhika – Organisation at Suruchi Rangamane in Kuvempunagar.
Dr. Veena Bharathi, Health Management Consultant and bilingual writer, who inaugurated the function, spoke about lack of mind space for a female writer, though she has got a room of her own. She also analysed Vasumathi’s recent novel ‘Antahpura’ which reflects deteriorating family relationships. She presented Channapatna handicrafts’ veene and a saree to the writer.
Lekhika President Shylaja Suresh, who facilitated book release of four Kannada writers and distributed three prizes to Kannada short-story writers, said her Organisation has been consistently honouring elderly, veteran Kannada writers.
In April, Lekhika feted writer Shantakumari at her residence in Bengaluru. She said Vasumathi’s literature has got its own unique beauty of Malenaadu.
