Sir,
Mysuru Traffic Police have installed numerous metal barricades, especially along the western stretch of the Ring Road.
These barricades are narrow and allow only one car to pass at a time. During peak hours or heavy traffic, multiple vehicles attempt to enter simultaneously, leading to traffic congestion, tempers flaring and heated arguments between drivers.
Heavy trucks and buses face considerable difficulty as cars and two-wheelers try to squeeze through tight gaps between larger vehicles. This chaotic situation poses serious safety risks.
It is suggested that these barricades be replaced with well-designed speed-breakers, which would allow multiple vehicles to move in parallel while still controlling speed.
Barricades are appropriate on highways where Police personnel are present for vehicle checks, but they are not suitable for daily use on busy city roads like the Ring Road.
Traffic authorities are requested to take note and consider replacing the metal barricades with rubber speed-breakers before a serious accident occurs.
