Mysuru: Senior Akashvani announcer Prabhuswamy Malimath, who retired from service following superannuation, was felicitated at the farewell programme organised under the joint aegis of Samudyata Shrotru Sangha, Mysuru Akashvani Kelugara Balaga and Akashvani Nataka Kalavidara Sangha, at Vijaya Vittala Vidyashala premises in Saraswathipuram here recently.
Speaking on the occasion, senior theatre personality Rajashekar Kadamba said that Prabhuswamy Malimath, who served Akashvani for over three decades, is also a good playwright and a Director.
Noting that Prabhuswamy was successful in attracting thousands of listeners to Akashvani during his service, he said that he has also notable achievements in Plays and Direction.
“Prabhuswamy is a multi-faceted artiste and Akashvani should continue to utilise his services. His talent should be utilised wherever and whenever necessary,” Kadamba said.
Bemoaning that the popularity of Akashvani is declining by the day due to the advent of TVs, cell phones and other electronic gadgets, he asserted that Akashvani was once very much of daily life of the people. Recalling the days when a large number of people used to gather at the city’s Town Hall for hearing Akashvani news and bulletins, he said that now things have completely changed with the advent of Science and Technology.
Apravarambhe theatre group founder N. Nagachandra presided. Samudyata Shrotru Sangha President Kannuru V. Govindachari, office-bearers Ramesh P. Rangasamudra and T.N. Rajeshwari and others were present.
Prabhuswamy Malimath and his wife Sudha were felicitated on the occasion.
