Mysuru: The Karnataka Retired Medical Doctors Association at Siddarthanagar had organised a function to celebrate Doctors’ Day and the 3rd anniversary of the Association in city recently.
On the occasion, retired doctors — Dr. S.K. Subbegowda (Professor of Psychiatric Medicine), Dr. K.P.Javaraiah (Medical Officer who had served in rural areas) and Dr. K. Anasuya (Eye Specialist) — were felicitated.
Former Dean and Director of Mysore Medical College and Research Institute (MMC&RI) Dr. Geetha K. Avadhani, in her inaugural address, said that the cordiality between the patients and the doctors was vanishing in this present day and said “Vaidyo Narayano Hari has to be re-established.”
Dr. M.R. Mohana Raju, President of the Association, stressed on the need of doctors to work in rural areas in combating diseases like Malaria and Dengue to give basic health to community.
Dr. V.K. Venkatesh, Hon. Secretary of the Association welcomed and briefed about the plans of conducting free medical camps in needy areas.
Dr. S. Viswanath Kumar described the life history of Bharat Ratna Dr. B.C. Roy and stressed that every young doctor should follow the footprints of this great doctor. Dr. Shridhara Puranik propose vote of thanks.
