Retired Government staff to stage demonstration tomorrow

Mysore/Mysuru: Seeking fulfilment of their demands, members of Karnataka State Retired Government Employees  Association will stage a demonstration by forming a human chain on Police station road in Ramakrishnanagar at 3.30 pm tomorrow (Dec.17).

Addressing a press meet here yesterday, Association President Umakanth said that the human chain will be formed for 15 minutes, during which the male participants are required to wear a white shirt and pant of any colour and women participants should wear mixed yellow and red colour saree as far as possible. Highlighting the reasons for forming the human chain, Umakanth claimed that the State Government has not yet introduced the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission even after 15 months. Though the Chief Minister was reminded of this and other demands of the Association several times, nothing much has happened and as such the pensioners are forming the human chain to register their protest.

Prior to the formation of human chain, Pensioners Day will be celebrated at 2.30 pm, during which senior members of the Association would be felicitated, he said adding that former Minister S.R. Mahesh will inaugurate the programme.

The Association office-bearers Chandrashekar and Chikkalingaswamy were present at the press meet.
