Mysuru: Mahajana Law College had organised a function at its premises in Jayalakshmipuram here this morning for the release of the book ‘Women and Law — Socio economic legal perspective of women in India and the world’ written by Parikshith K. Naik, a final year law student of the college.
Speaking as the chief guest and after releasing the book, retired IPS Officer K.P. Puttaswamy referring to the frequent harassment of women in society opined that the book would throw light on laws safeguarding women. He asked women to be aware of their rights and laws protecting them.
Addressing the gathering, Parikshith Naik referring to MeToo movement and women’s entry to Sabarimala temple which have become the topics of discussion today, opined that laws protecting women should be properly and totally implemented. He hoped that his book would be of good help to women in the legal perspective.
Mahajana Education Society President R. Vasudeva Murthy presided. Secretary Dr. T. Vijayalakshmi Muralidhar, Hassan KSRP Commandant Krishnappa and others were present.
St. Philomena’s College Principal Dr. Ruth Shantakumari presented a review of the book.
