Rider killed as bus rams into two-wheeler in Nanjangud

Nanjangud: A bike rider was killed on the spot  and the pillion suffered serious injuries, when a KSRTC bus rammed into the bike he was riding at the under-bridge on MJS Road yesterday evening.

The deceased is Parashivamurthy (40), a resident of Moodahalli in the taluk. He was proceeding on his two-wheeler from Railway Station side towards KSRTC Bus Stand when a speeding bus knocked him down fatally. The seriously injured pillion rider identified as 42-year-old Basavaraju has been admitted to Nanjangud Government Hospital.

Dy.SP Prabhakar Shinde, Circle Inspector Rajashekar and staff, who rushed to the spot, conducted mahazar and shifted the body to Government Hospital besides registering a case.

Traffic was disrupted for more than 30 minutes on the busy road. Kavalande Police rushed  to the spot, cleared the vehicles and made way for smooth traffic.
