Sir,
The Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) has set up clean drinking water units (RO plants) across the city. However, the public can access water from these units only by inserting a new Rs. 5 coin.
As a result, many people end up asking passersby for coins or visiting nearby shops to exchange for a new Rs. 5 coin.
This is particularly inconvenient for senior citizens, who often collect drinking water from these points. For them, having to find a new coin each time can be awkward and burdensome.
Despite advancements in technology, MCC continues to rely on this outdated coin system. It would be far more convenient for the public if digital payment options like PhonePe, Google Pay or card swiping facilities were provided instead.
MCC authorities are urged to take appropriate action to modernise the system for the benefit of all residents.
