Mysore/Mysuru: Rotary District Governor Rtn. Major Donor Prakash Karanth, RI District 3181, during his official visit to Rotary Ivory City Mysuru inaugurated a Toilet Block constructed at a cost of Rs. 3.5 lakh at Hardwicke School. He also commissioned a Drinking Water Unit at the school recently.
Later he inaugurated a Biology Lab and a Chemistry Lab at Sri Sathya Sai Baba PU College which were set up by the Club at a cost of another Rs. 3.5 lakh.
Then he visited Usha Kiran Eye Hospital where eye surgeries were performed to children for sight correction. He also distributed spectacles to those identified through eye screening camps conducted at various schools.
In the evening, the DG distributed 5 sewing machines to poor ladies who underwent training at the Skill Development Centre of Rotary Ivory City functioning at Family Planning Association India, Mysore Centre.
Assistant Governor Rtn. S. Balachandar released a Special Club Bulletin TUSKER on the occasion. The Club honoured Dr. K. V. Ravishankar of Usha Kiran Eye Hospital for his support in executing Club’s Global Grant Project “Ivory Tender Vision”.
The DG was also given a brief report about the Rotary Dialysis Centre at Chamarajanagar established as a Joint Project of Ivory City and RC Chamarajanagar where dialysis is provided to patients at subsidised charges.
District Governor Rtn. Prakash Karanth lauded the Club for its service projects to enhance the image of Rotary as well as to help the poor and needy sections of society. Club President Rtn. M.N. Ramesh, Secretary Rtn. R. Muthukumaran, Zonal Lieutenant Rtn. Ramachandra Raje Urs, Presidents and Secretaries of other Rotary Clubs were also present at the function.
