Rotary Kadamba Ranga Award Presentation Ceremony

Mysuru: The ‘Rotary Kadamba Ranga Award-2026’ Presentation Ceremony, jointly organised annually by Rotary Mysore North and Kadamba Rangavedike, will be held at the Institution of Engineers-India (IEI) on JLB Road in city on Jan. 9 at 6 pm.

This year, the prestigious award will be presented to renowned Mysuru artistes Srimathi Hariprasad, Subbanarasimha, Krishna Janamana and Dinesh Chammalige.

Progressive Thinker Prof. Kalegowda Nagawara will present the awards. Senior Theatre artiste Rameshwari Verma will be the guest of honour.

Profiles of the  Awardees

Srimathi Hariprasad: A powerhouse in Mysuru’s amateur theatre, Srimathi Hariprasad has been active for over six decades. At 88, she remains incredibly dynamic, contributing as an actress, organiser, writer, feminist and a resource person in the field of science. Her lifelong dedication continues to inspire the theatre community.

Subbanarasimha: With a career spanning sixty years, Subbanarasimha began his journey performing in traditional ‘Ganapathi Chappara’ plays. He established himself as a versatile actor by performing with prominent troupes like Amara Kalasangha, Kadamba Rangavedike and Kalasuruchi. Beyond acting, he has handled significant responsibilities behind the scenes.

Krishna Janamana: A rural talent at heart and a Principal by profession, Krishna Janamana is deeply involved in theatre, journalism and literature. He has directed several acclaimed plays and performed street plays across Karnataka through his organisation, ‘Desiranga.’ He is also dedicated to teaching folk dances like Dollu Kunita, Kamsale and Puja Kunita to college students.

Dinesh Chammalige: An honest ‘theatre seeker,’ Dinesh has made significant contributions to children’s theatre both as an actor and director. He founded the ‘Nalwadi Social, Cultural and Educational Trust’ to promote quality theatre productions. He has worked with many legends of the stage and is widely recognised as a mentor on popular TV reality shows like ‘Maja Bharata’ and ‘Comedy Talkies.’
