Rotary-Mukthaka Literary Award ceremony on Nov.30

Mysuru: Sharanappa N. Metri, retired technical supervisor,  BSNL, Koppal, will be conferred Rotary-Mukthaka Sahitya Prashasti at a programme organised by Karnataka Mukthaka Sahitya Academy Trust and  Rotary Mysore North on Nov.30 at 6.30 pm at Rotary Hall on JLB Road here.

KSOU Kannada Professor Dr.Jyothi Shankar will inaugurate the programme. Rotary North President Rtn. M.K. Nanjaiah will preside. Academy President S. Ramprasad will be present.

Profile: Born in 1958 at Heruru in Gangavathi taluk of Koppal, Sharanappa Metri completed his PU education at Vijayanagar College in Hospet and obtained B.com degree in 1980 from Karnatak University (today’s Krishnadevaraya University). He joined the then Post and Telegraph Department in 1981 and served in various capacities at Yadgiri, Belagavi, Gangavathi and Raichur.

Metri has to his credit many poems, limericks and books like Nanna Kavithe, Nage Gulabi, Bilva Rasayana, Mahadeva Mandara, Vachana Kalpavalli, among other works.
