Mysuru: A Police team headed by two Inspectors has been formed to nab the gang of about seven persons who had barged into the office of businessman Naveen Kumar Gupta in Gokulam 3rd Stage near Vidyavardhaka Engineering College and making away with Rs. 29,66,840 cash by posing as CBI sleuths on Friday.
The Police team headed by V.V. Puram Inspector C.V. Ravi and City Crime Branch (CCB) Inspector C. Raju have collected phone call details and have begun their investigations.
The Police have suspected the robbery to be the handiwork of some known persons, as the gang looted the cash despite CCTV cameras installed in the premises and later making away with the hard disk of the computer in which the footages of CCTV cameras are recorded and stored.
The Police, based on the information provided by the staff, have collected the call details from various service providers and have lodged a hunt to nab the culprits.
Yesterday, DCP N. Rudramuni, N.R. Sub-Division ACP Umesh G. Shet and CCB ACP C. Gopal who visited the crime spot, collected necessary information and have begun investigations keeping in mind the possibility of the crime due to internal issues and other reasons.
A senior officer said that as no such dacoity case of miscreants barging into an office on the first floor in a residential area and threatening the staff besides looting cash has not taken place in recent years, this case has given rise to many suspicions.
