Rs. 8 crore for 83rd Kannada Sahitya Sammelana

Mysuru: “The State Government has agreed to release Rs. 8 crore for the 83rd Akhila Bharatha Kannada Sahitya Sammelana to be held in city from Nov. 24 to 26,” announced District in-charge Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa.

He was addressing a meeting at Government House here yesterday to review the action plans taken for the mega event.

Dr. Mahadevappa said that he has already discussed about the preparations for the Sammelana with the Chief Minister and asked the Heads of Committees constituted for the event to discuss about allocations of funds with the Deputy Commissioner.

The Minister asked the officers to open information kiosks and helpline at Railway Stations and Bus Stands to facilitate writers and representatives attending the Sammelana.

He further instructed officials to discuss with heads of private schools and colleges and hotel owners to arrange accommodation for the participants and added that adequate transport should be provided to take the participants to the Sammelana

venue. Referring to cultural programmes, he said that they would be organised from 6 pm to 9 pm at six platforms.

Dr. K. Rameshwarappa, Deputy Director, Department of Food and Civil Supplies, briefed the meeting on the food arrangements at the Sammelana which include a wide spread of lip-smacking delicacies.

Chairmen of Sammelana Committees briefed the meeting on their action plans. ZP President Nayeema Sulthana, Mayor M.J. Ravikumar, DC D. Randeep, Additional DC T. Yogesh, Kannada and Culture Assistant Director H. Chennappa and others attended the meeting.

Mysuru Mallige to adorn chariot

The chariot to carry the Sammelana President Prof. Chandrashekar Patil will be adorned with Mysuru Mallige, a jasmine variety known for its distinct fragrance. The procession, comprising about 600 artistes displaying their talents, will also include decorated bullock carts and horse-drawn carriages along with Police Band.

Dinner : Vangibath, Raitha, Laadu, Rice-Sambar, Rasam and Butter Milk.
