Senior RSS Pracharak M.C. Jayadev (85), who passed away at a private hospital in Bengaluru on Monday, was laid to rest at the Veerashaiva Burial Grounds in Vidyaranyapuram here yesterday.
Suttur Seer Sri Shivaratri Deshikendra Swamiji supervised the rites.
The mortal remains of Jayadev were brought from Bengaluru and was kept at his residence on Ramanuja Road near Agrahara, where hundreds of RSS activists and leaders including former CM B.S. Yeddyurappa, MPs Pratap Simha, Shobha Karandlaje and B. Sriramulu, former Ministers S.A. Ramdas, M. Shivanna and C.H. Vijayashankar, former legislators K.R. Mallikarjunappa, C. Ramesh, G. Madhusudhan and Maruthi Rao Pawar, Corporator Nandeesh Preetham and others paid their laid respects.
Consoling the bereaved family, former CM B.S. Yeddyurappa said that Jayadev, who was like a father figure to him, had guided him in his difficult times and added that he and late Jayadev shared a good relationship for more than five decades.
Suttur Seer who also spoke, said that the late RSS leader was a very unique person and one would feel like giving him respect just by looking at him.
Later, the body of Jayadev was taken in a procession to the burial grounds, where he was laid to rest as per Lingayat tradition.
