Mysuru City and District Police have organised ‘Run for Unity’ a 5K marathon on Oct. 31 in city as part of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) to commemorate the 144th birth anniversary of India’s First Home Minister and former Deputy Prime Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Police personnel, students of various schools and colleges, members of NGOs and citizens will take part in the marathon which will be flagged off from Kote Anjaneya Swamy Temple at 6 am on Oct. 31. The Run will pass through K.R. Circle, D.D. Urs Road, JLB Road, Ramaswamy Circle, Chamaraja Double Road, Gun House Circle, Hardinge Circle, A.V. Road before culminating back at Kote Anjaneya Swamy Temple.
National Unity Day is being observed across the country to foster and reinforce dedication to preserve and strengthen unity, integrity and security of the nation. The ‘Run for Unity’ programme is organised by both Union and State Governments at all district headquarters, towns and villages to pay tribute to the ‘Iron Man of India.’
Entry is free. However, City Police Commissioner K.T. Balakrishna has requested participants to register their names with Police Inspector, CCRB, City Police Commissioner’s Office or contact Mob: 94808-02253.
