S.D. Saokar (79), a resident of city, passed away on Mar. 13 here.
A philanthropist, he leaves behind his wife Sunita, sons Vinayak, Kishore and Anand, grand children and a host of relatives and friends.
Saokar was associated with Mysore Grahakara Parishat (MGP), Uttara Kannada Samskrutika Sangha, Konkani GSB Community and was also instrumental in bringing the art of Yakshagana to Mysuru back in 1970s.
Last rites were performed at the foot of Chamundi Hill on Mar. 13, according to sources.
