Mysore/Mysuru: Dr. Sindhuvalli Ananthamurthy Fellowship-2022 was conferred on S. Ramanath during a function organised by Kalasuruchi at Suruchi Rangamane in Mysuru recently.
Dr. B.V. Rajaram, former Rangayana Director and Prof. H.S. Umesh, theatre artiste and retired Principal of Sarada Vilas B.Ed College, were present along with Fellowship recipient Ramanath.
Prof. Umesh shared the objectives behind instituting the Fellowship and the methodology followed for the selection. He opined that it was heartening to receive many applications from different parts of Karnataka.
Dr. Rajaram spoke on the need to document the efforts of theatre practitioners and their daily struggles to keep theatre alive. Compared to the research done on the play scripts, studies on practicing teams is very less and there is a need to set right this imbalance. Ramanath gave an overview of the research he is going to embark and said he looks forward to seek inputs and collaborate with everybody to realise the objectives of the Fellowship. He also fondly recalled his association with Sindhuvalli Ananthamurthy.
