Sadhakarondige Samvada and Yuva Kavigoshti on Jan. 23

Mysuru/Mysore: The Department of Kannada and Culture has organised ‘Sadhakarondige Samvada’ (Interaction with Achievers) at Mahajana First Grade College Auditorium here on Jan. 23 at 11 am. On this occasion, Scholar N.S. Taranath will speak about renowned Kannada writer, critic and lexicographer Dr. T.V. Venkatachala Sastry. ZP CEO K. Jyothi will inaugurate the programme. Kuvempu Institute of Kannada Studies Director Prof. N.M. Talwar will preside over the event. Rangayana Joint Director V.N. Mallikarjunaswamy and Mahajana First Grade College Principal Dr. S. Venkataramu will be present.

H.M. Nagarajarao, Dr. Kabbinale Vasantha Bharadwaj, Dr. Jyothi Shankar, Dr. Panditaradhya, Prof. Shubhachandra and Dr. H.R. Thimmegowda will participate in the interaction.

Later in the day, Department of Kannada and Culture has organised ‘Yuva Kavigoshti’ at 2 pm at the same venue. Director of Gandhi Bhavan, Manasagangothri, Prof. M.S. Shekhar will preside. President of District Kannada Sahitya Parishat Dr. Y.D. Rajanna and Financial Advisor of Mysore Medical College and Research Institute, K. Mahadevanayak will be the chief guests.

About Dr. T.V. Venkatachala Sastry: Recipient of the prestigious ‘Kannada Sahitya Akademi Award’ (honorary), T.V. Venkatachala Sastry is an authority on Kannada language grammar and its various facets ranging from the metre scale (Chandassu) to history of Kannada literature. Born in 1933 at Harohalli village in Kanakapura taluk of Bengaluru district, Dr. Venkatachala Sastry has served as Kannada Professor for over two decades at University of Mysore and additionally held the post of Director at “Kannada Adhyayana Samsthe” for several years before retiring in 1994. He has done extensive research on a number of Kannada classical poets including Pampa, Ranna, Harihara, Nemichandra, Raghavanka and Kumaravyasa.
