Sahitya Parishat polls: ‘Give space for new faces’

Dr. C.P. Krishna Kumar and Dr. Pradhan Gurudatta addressing a press meet at Pathrakartara Bhavan in city on Tuesday last.

Mysuru:  Noted littérateurs, Dr. C.P. Krishna Kumar (CPK) and Dr. Pradhan Gurudatta, have appealed to those who have already served as the President of District Kannada Sahitya Parishat not to seek re-election but to give chance for fresh faces.

Addressing a joint press meet at Pathrakartara Bhavan in city on Tuesday last, they said that the Sahitya Parishat must not become stagnant water but flowing water. Tradition has been that District Secretary will automatically get elected as the President. It was not possible to say it wrong that those who served as President in the past must not become President again. However, it will be better if such persons do not aspire to hold the post again but help bring new face to the District Unit. “Our opinion applies only to Mysuru District unit and not to the State Unit”, they added.

They appealed to all candidates to fight the elections friendly and both successful and defeated candidates must strive in the growth of Kannada language. Healthy criticism must be supported and not accusations against each other.
