Mysuru: Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Manu Baligar has said that the 83rd Akhila Bharatha Kannada Sahitya Sammelana will pass a resolution on saving KSOU and Hampi Kannada Universities.
Addressing a press conference at Maharaja College grounds, the venue of the Literary meet, on Wednesday, Baligar said the meet will do everything it can to save the two Universities.
Pointing out that 75 percent of the four resolutions passed at the previous meet at Raichur have been implemented, he said that 6000 people have been sent individual invitations to attend the 3-day meet (Nov.24 & 26).
Stating that 30 senior writers have been invited as special guests, he called upon the people to participate in large numbers.
DC D. Randeep who also addressed the meet declared that there were no sponsors for the meet.
Stating that all the expenses of the meet are borne by Government funding, the DC said the Government has sanctioned Rs. 8 crore and the Kannada Sahitya Parishat has extended Rs. 1 crore for the meet. However the 3-day meet is expected to cost Rs. 10 crore, he added.
Categorically stating that there will be no scope for unnecessary expenditure during the meet, the DC said that the preparations are almost over.
Stationary articles and kits were distributed to some registered delegates on the occasion.
ZP President Nayeema Sultana, Mayor M.J. Ravikumar, District KSP President Y.D. Rajanna, office-bearers Nagaraj and Rajashekar Kadamba, former District KSP Presidents M. Chandrashekar and Maddikere Gopal and others were present.
