Mysuru: The Karnataka Samata Sainik Dal (SSD) will celebrate its centenary at the KSOU Convocation Hall in Muktagangothri campus along Hunsur Road at 10.30 am tomorrow (Jan.10).

Announcing this at a press meet here yesterday, former Mayor Purushotham said that the SSD formed by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar in 1924, completed 100 years of its formation last year and as such the centenary celebration is being held.

Pointing out that Ambedkar’s ashes was being brought to the city for the first time, he said that prior to the start of the programme, the ashes will be taken out in a procession from the Palace North Gate to the venue at 9 am.

Tableaux featuring great personalities like Buddha, Emperor Ashoka, Phule couple, Sahu Maharaj, Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar, Narayana Guru, Periyar,  Ramabai Ambedkar and Kanshiram will be part of the procession, he said adding that Buddhist Monks, Dr. Ambedkar’s grandson Rajaratna Ambedkar and other noted personalities will take part in the event.
