Mysuru: Mass Upanayanam has been organised at Sri Ravishankar Guruji’s Ashram on Lalithadripura Road, Mysuru, from May 5 to 8.
Upanayanam (sacred thread ceremony) is performed to mark the point at which children begin their formal education in the Vedic tradition. It is traditionally seen as getting a new birth in the spiritual world towards the higher knowledge of the Self and is also an initiation process to learn the sacred chants and mantras according to Vedic tradition. The ceremony is complete with wearing of the Yajñopavitam (Sacred Thread) on the body.
Participants will be initiated into the Gayatri and will be taught the Sandhyavandana and Nityahoma. During the course, the participants will also get to know the meaning behind the ceremonies through Guruji’s discourses on the significance of various steps.
Those aged above 8 years are eligibile for the non-residential course. For registration, call Mob: 93421-11970 or 94480-48488.
