Srirangapatna: As part of the 231st annual Sandal Urs of Hazrath Tipu Sultan, a function was organised by Hazrath Tipu Sultan Wakf Estate under the Chairmanship of MLA Tanveer Sait, who is also the Chairman of Hazrath Tipu Wakf Estate, Srirangapatna, at Gumbad-e-Shahi in Srirangapatna on Sunday.
Sandal procession began from Masjid-e-Aala, Srirangapatna at 3.30 pm which reached the tomb of Hazrath Tipu Sultan at 6 pm. Later, a public function was held in the premises of Gumbad-e-Shahi. Moulana Hafiz o Qari Inayath Ur Rahman welcomed the gathering.
Speaking on the occasion, Tanveer Sait appealed to Chief Minister Siddharamaiah to establish a research centre and museum in the name of Hazrath Tipu Sultan, opposite Gumbad-e- Shahi in Srirangapatna. Moulana Shaafi Saadi, Chairman of Karnataka Board of Auqaf, requested CM Siddharamaiah to sanction a University in the name of Hazrath Tipu.
On the occasion, Tanveer Sait felicitated Moulana Shaafi Saadi and presented a memento. Later, Tanveer Sait, Moulana Shaafi Saadi and other dignitaries visited the tomb of Hazrath Tipu, offered chader and flowers to the tomb and paid rich tributes. Hazrath Tipu Wakf Estate Vice-Chairmen Nazimuddin and Asif Sait, Secretary Irfan Ahmed, Sir Khazi of Mysuru Hazrath Moulana Mohammed Usman Shariff and Syed Yunus, Secretary of Jamia Tipu Sultan were also present. A large number of admirers of Hazrath Tipu were present till late night during the 231st Urs function. Sandal processions were taken out from Mysuru, Bengaluru and other parts of the State.
