Sandalwood sapling plantation drive launched in Yadavagiri

Mysore/Mysuru: A special initiative to plant Sandalwood saplings at Chandanavana Park located in Yadavagiri under Ward 18 was inaugurated BJP City President L. Narendra, here yesterday.

Speaking on the occasion, Nagendra said, under the leadership of former Corporator B.V. Nagendra, a special programme ‘Namma Yadavagiri’ had been launched under which a number of development activities, including planting of saplings in park and on footpaths to increase the green cover, were taken up.

“The residents of Yadavagiri have been planting sandalwood saplings from many years which are now fully grown. The Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) has installed fences around the sandalwood trees to protect them. This apart, the residents have also installed CCTV cameras to keep a vigil on the trees,” said Nagendra, who also appreciated the residents for coming forward to grow fruit plants to help the bird species.

BJP Chamaraja Constituency President Dinesh Gowda, T.C. Rajendra, Kiran Bolar, Lalithamma, Veena, Gowri, Prakash, Dinesh, Sheela Manjunath, Kumar Rao and others were present.
