Sansad Khel Mahotsav: 146 kids take part in Cyclothon

Mysore/Mysuru:  From bicycles with support wheels to regular bicycles, 146 children took part in the Kids Cyclothon, a cycling competition organised as part of Sansad Khel Mahotsav (MP’s Sports Festival) with the theme ‘Fit Yuva For Vikasit Bharat’ and Children’s Day by Mysuru District Amateur Cycling Association (MDACA) and the Department of Physical Education, University of Mysore (UoM), here this morning.

Sansad Khel Mahotsav is a sports and fitness festival aimed at promoting a sporting culture and leadership among children and youth. The objective of this event is to bring the community together through sports and fitness and to take the message of ‘Fit India’ to every home.

The Kids Cyclothon was flagged off by Mysuru-Kodagu MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar in front of the UoM Clock Tower in Manasagangothri campus.

Speaking before flagging off the Cyclothon, MP Yaduveer said that various sporting events have been held so far as part of MP’s Sports Festival and Cyclothon for kids was being held today.

More such sporting activities will be held in the days to come with support from the Centre, he added.

Pointing out that everyone should take part in sporting activities especially cycling as it helps to keep fit and healthy, MP Yaduveer said that using bicycles will also help to prevent pollution and keep the environment clean.

The competition was held in four categories — Under-6; Under-8; Under-10 and Under-12 years — for both boys and girls.

While medals and certificates were presented to the first three winners in all four categories, certificates were given to all the participants.

Winners

Under-6 – Boys (1-km): 1. Skanda Kowshik, 2. C. Aryan Surya and 3. Syed Zuhairuddin Khilji; Girls – (1-km): 1. Lahari Poovaiah, 2. Kushi Chethan and 3. Aanya Lokesh.

Under-8 – Boys (2-km): 1. Mohammed Mehran, 2. D.M. Rishank and 3. Syed Zaiduddin Khilji; Girls (2-km): 1. Chavi Rao, 2. Venba Prakash and 3. Diya Solanki.

Under-10 – Boys (3-km): 1. Rishabh Khandagale, 2. Vihaan Mandanna and 3. Savio Paul; Girls (1.5-km): 1. K.D. Tashi, 2. H.N. Nyjasiri and 3. Pehal Jain.

Under-12 – Boys (6-km): 1. Jashmith Yashavanth Pawar, 2. G. Mohith Prasad and 3. Gyan Ganapathi; Girls (3-km): 1. Emaya Prakash, 2. Archa Siveej and 3. M. Charvi.

MDACA Hon. President Ramesh Narasaiah, President Arun Patil, Vice-Presidents B. Manjunath & Nagabhushan, Secretary N. Lokesh, Joint Secretary R. Neelameghasham, Treasurer M.V. Suhruth Jamadagni, Organising Secretary A.V. Sajan, BJP leader Dr. Sushrutha Gowda and others were present during the occasion.
