Mysore/Mysuru: As part of International Women’s Day, the city’s Samskruti Women’s Sphere, in association with Vishwa Arya Vysya Mahasabha, distributed sarees to womenfolk of Ranganakoppalu Tribal Hamlet located in the fringes of Nagarahole Tiger Reserve in Hunsur taluk, at a programme organised at the hamlet recently.
Speaking on the occasion, Samskruti Women Sphere President Sridevi Bhoopalam said that her organisation will be conducting many programmes shortly in the wake of International Women’s Day.
Also, as part of Sparrow Day, school children were educated on the measures to be taken to save Sparrow bird species, which is on the brink of extinction due to indiscreet urbanisation, she added.
Sarees were distributed to tribal women, while children were distributed clothes and hats. The womenfolk were educated on maintaining personal hygiene and on the advantages of using sanitary pads. They were also given tips on scientific disposal of sanitary pads.
Samskruti and Vishwa Arya Vysya Mahasabha Office-bearers — Keerthi Ramesh, Swapna Madhusudhan, Shwetha Swarup, Nanda Lokesh, Shwetha Anand, Poornima Sunil, Archana Basavaraj, Suma Ramesh and others were present during the occasion.
