Mysuru: The aim of making this movie was to see that importance is given to mother tongue as the medium of instruction and bringing awareness about stopping closure of Kannada medium schools and Sarkari Hiriya Prathamika Shaale Kasaragodu, has achieved success beyond our expectations, said the film’s Director Rishab Shetty, expressing his happiness.
“I have achieved my aim of bringing to the fore the problems of Kannada and Kannadigas in the border area of Kasaragodu. Our purpose was to tell the story in a simple way and make the viewers think about it. It was a challenge for me to do the movie with only children as actors,” he said, addressing a press conference at Patrakartara Bhavan, here yesterday.
In the beginning there was apprehension as to how the movie would fare, but today there is so much demand that 150 movie theatres are screening it. Kasaragodu is an emotional issue. All these days, those who were not talking or writing about it have started writing about the cinema and it has become a big topic of discussion on social media. Hence, it looks like our purpose has been served, he said.
However, with the success of the film, the responsibility has also gone up, said Shetty. Child actors Sampath, Ranjan, Mahendra and Producer Pramod Shetty were present.
