‘Satyavanne Heluththene’ play to be staged this month end’

Mysuru: After staging a series of successful plays, former Rangayana Director Addanda Cariappa is coming back with another play titled ‘Satyavanne Heluththene’ (I will tell only the truth) at Rangayana this month end.

This play comes after the successful staging of Cariappa’s other plays — ‘Tipu Nija Kanasugalu’ and ‘Karineera Veera.’

Speaking to Star of Mysore, Cariappa said that, he is the playwright and the director while his wife Anitha Cariappa is the costume designer. Ravi Muroor has scored the music and Subramanya Mysuru is in charge of acoustics.

Noting that the stage is shared by artistes playing the roles of great personalities like Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Jawaharlal Nehru, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Subhas Chandra Bose and Veer Savarkar, who come to testify in the Court of Conscience, while the farmer who is called the backbone of the country is the Judge and a victim of sexual abuse is an Advocate in the Court. The entire play ‘Satyavanne Heluththene’ focusses on the hearings in the Court of Conscience and the testimony of these great personalities on the truths in History.

Stating that, the play is of three-hour duration, Cariappa said that the roles revolve around the witness box in the Court of Conscience. Maintaining that he had studied as many as 43 books, including Jawaharlal Nehru’s ‘The Discovery of India,’ before scripting the play, he said he was very hopeful that the play will see success just like his two other plays. This play is a unique experiment in the history of theatre, he claimed.
