SBM Park needs immediate attention

The SBM Park in Srirampura which was in a state of neglect got a facelift with the construction of a compound around it, thanks to the efforts of MUDA Chairman and the MLA who laid foundation stone in July 2015 and assured to develop the Park. Added to this, the Mysore Bank Colony Residents Association developed the Park by planting saplings on World Environment Day in June 2016. The plants were also nurtured by the nearby residents.

But later some neighbouring residents opened up the fence on the North side and allowed their cattle to graze the grass in the Park which spoiled the whole Park and the plants. The MUDA also did not take much interest in watering the plants nor provide any benches for the walkers to take rest despite several requests.

Added to this, heaps of mud have been dumped in the park during the repair of the main road which is yet to be cleared. The neighbouring site adjacent to the Park on the North side, though it is shown as part of the Park land in the MUDA approved plan, is in dispute between the land-losers and MUDA as the MUDA is yet to acquire the land and attach to the existing Park.

The land adjacent on the South side of the Park belonging to Madhuvana Layout, which is also shown as park land in the MUDA plan, is said to have been allotted to public, the ownership of which has been changing hands without any construction coming up. This is the state of affairs of a Park, which was planned to be developed as a Park to raise medicinal plants but nothing has come up so far.

As the MCC has big plans to develop parks in Mysuru city, I request the MCC to take up beautification of this park after clearing all hitches and help the residents to breathe fresh air. The MUDA officials may also coordinate with the MCC to speed up the process.
