Mahabodhi School, Mysuru, celebrated its 53rd Annual Day ‘Chiguru Habba’ at Kalamandira with the theme “One School, Many Culture,” portraying India’s unity in diversity through colourful performances.
The event was graced by Venerable Bhikkhu Vasetho Bhante, Director, Mahabodhi Monastic Institution, Bengaluru. Distinguished guests included Jikmet Wangdus Jyothi (Member, Karnataka State Minorities Commission & CEO, Mahabodhi Maitri Mandala, Mysuru), D. Uday Kumar (DDPI, Mysuru), Col. Siddharth Vatsyan, Technical Advisor of Army, Krishna (BEO, South Zone, Mysuru) and Bharath Kumar (PRO and Project Co-ordinator, Mahabodhi Maitri Mandala).
Bhikkhu Panyabodhi, Bhikkhu Veppo, Dr. A. Annapurna (Principal) and P.R. Dwarakeesh (Vice-Principal), staff, students and parents were present.
Meritorious students were felicitated with Academic Excellence Awards and a School Report video highlighted the institution’s achievements and milestones.
Pema Khandu, Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, conveyed his greetings to the Mahabodhi Society family in Mysuru through a video message. He expressed pride that many students from Arunachal have been a part of this school community, reflecting the true spirit of diversity and unity.
Messages were also shared by Ananda Bhanteji, General Secretary of Mahabodhi Society and Kiren Rijiju, Union Minister.
City Police Commissioner Seema Latkar, who was the chief guest in the morning session, appreciated the school’s efforts in imparting not just academic excellence but also moral and spiritual education — a value often missing in today’s technology-driven world.
Highlighting the importance of meditation and joyful learning, she emphasized that true education lies in nurturing happy, compassionate, and self-disciplined individuals.
The cultural segment was the true highlight of the evening — a grand showcase of India’s cultural diversity, brought to life through mesmerizing performances.
The sequence featured vibrant depictions of festivals and traditions from all corners of the country, including Christmas, Onam, Goa Carnival, Sankranti, Ugadi, North-Eastern cultural celebrations, Vaisakhi, Vishu, Holi, Mahashivratri, Buddha and His Teachings, Ramzan, Deepavali, Ganesh Chaturthi, Dasara and Navratri.
The grand finale featured a graceful and emotional farewell dance by the outgoing 10th standard students, symbolizing gratitude, memories, and new beginnings — leaving the audience deeply moved.
