Mysore/Mysuru: St. Thomas Institutions, Mysuru, had organised a mega “Science Expo” recently in the school premises at Visweshwaranagar.
Rev. Shaiju P. John, Manager, Mar Thoma Education Society (MES), presided. The open house event was inaugurated by Dr. A. Jagannath, Scientist, DFRL, DRDO, Mysuru and Dr. B.N. Asha, Principal, IOE, Mysuru. Sam Cherian Kumbukattu, Hon. Secretary, MES, Ebby Eapen, Hon. Treasurer, MES and Gracy Thomas, Baskyamo were present on the occasion.
Students from St. Thomas State and Central Schools displayed their static and innovative models which can be used for learning various scientific concepts. A Space Shuttle, a Newton’s Cradle Pendulum, a gallery of ‘Best out of Waste’, a miniature of Vermiculture, a mushroom house and a special display of Silk Generating Procedure from Sericulture Department were major attractions of the event.
The key objectives were to inculcate a scientific attitude and research mindedness and to bring out the hidden talents in students. The displayed models and projects were judged by a team of experienced Science faculties from different Schools and Colleges.
