Science Sanje: Former CFTRI Scientist to talk on ‘Rice’

Mysore/Mysuru: Kalasuruchi and Kutuhali-Kannada will present Science Sanje event on July 12 (Saturday) at Suruchi Rangamane in Kuvempunagar from 6.30 pm to 7.30 pm.

B.V. Satyendra Rao, former Chief Scientist, CSIR-CFTRI, Mysuru, will deliver a talk on ‘Rice’ on the occasion.

B.V. Satyendra Rao, a Kannadiga from Mysuru, graduated in Mechanical Engineering from NIE, Mysuru and joined CSIR-CFTRI as a Scientist. He served there for more than 30 years and took voluntary retirement.

His main interest was development of food processing machinery. He has designed various machines for processing grains and has advised various States and the Central Government on rice processing in India.

An expert in the establishment, maintenance and design of rice mills and processing methods,  rice mills from Kanyakumari to Kashmir have benefited from his services. At a time when such mills were not ready in India, Satyendra Rao is one of the Scientists who worked hard to bring a touch of innovation to rice milling by designing and disseminating new things.

After retirement, he has been creating YouTube videos called Aparathakosha, spreading the beauty of Kannada.
