‘Scientist of the Year’ Awardee

Mysore/Mysuru: City’s scientist Dr. G. Panduranga Murthy was conferred with the prestigious ‘Scientist of the Year-2024’ Award by Gossner College of Ranchi University in Jharkhand recently.

The award was presented by Ranchi University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ajith Kumar Sinha and Senior Director of CSIR-ICAR Dr. Janardhan Jee during the two-day 9th International Conference on “Global Effort for Upliftment of Rural Mass through Biological Sciences and Multidisciplinary Research” held on June 8 and 9. 

Dr.  Murthy, who was invited to deliver the keynote address, was conferred with the award for his contributions in the fields of renewable green energy, bio-fuel production, conservation of shallow water springs and wet-lands, Big data analytics on Evolutionary-cum-Tribal Medicines and Transfer of sustainable technologies to the rural farmers, self-entrepreneurs and other prospective beneficiaries.

Dr. Panduranga Murthy was awarded the Doctor of Science by the Ranchi University in the year 2023. He received his first Ph.D by the University of Mysore for his research in “Eco-toxicology of Pesticides on Crop Plants and Phytoremediation for Sustainable Agriculture Production.” Later, he received his second Ph.D from Jawarharlal Nehru Technological University, Andhra Pradesh, for his research related to “Scientific Validation of Ethno-medicinal Plant Drugs and Biopharmaceuticals linking with chemical equations of traditional/ tribal medicinal systems respectively.”
