Mysuru: A three-day Proficiency Medal Training Camp for Scouts and Guides from Mysuru and Belagavi divisions was inaugurated by State Scouts and Guides Chief Commissioner P.G.R. Sindhia at the Scouts and Guides Grounds in city last evening.
More than 200 children from Mysuru, Chamarajanagar, Belagavi, Udupi, Dharwad, Gadag, Bengaluru, Mangaluru, Chikkamagaluru and Shivamogga are participating in the training camp.
Addressing the young crowd, Sindhia said that children are generally not influenced by caste, religion and other forces. “In this scenario, children must develop the quality of respecting elders irrespective of their caste and religious affiliations,” he added.
Dwelling at length about value-based education, he said that along with the traditional and curriculum-based education, students must also be trained in moral education for their overall personality development.
“The main aim of Scouts and Guides movement is to make young children responsible so that they can be responsible citizens of future. Your minds are young and you do not know the issues of caste and religion. But you must cultivate the habit of treating all people as equal,” Sindhia told the children.
Scouts and Guides Mysuru Chief Commissioner and former Mayor P. Vishwanath, District Commissioners T.S. Ravishankar and Pushpavalli, Treasurer K.B. Gurumurthy, District Secretary Abdul Jameel and others were present on the occasion.
