Second wave of COVID-19: We need to be careful more than ever

Health staff conducting RT-PCR test near Chikkagadiyara.

Sir,

Health Minister Dr. K. Sudhakar made it official that the second wave of COVID-19 has already started and we need to be careful more than ever. The cases are increasing everyday and the citizens need to be worried, which they are clearly not.

No colleges and educational institutions are strictly following the SOPs and thermal scanning and wearing face masks has become a thing of the past in some public places of Mysuru city.

Citizens should take every precaution possible and they must get tested by their own will if they have any of the COVID-19 symptoms, so that they will know the cause for their illness and get treated accordingly.

There is still the social stigma surrounding COVID-19 testing and people should remember that getting tested does not mean that they have COVID-19. The citizens should remember that “Prevention is better than cure” and try to normalise things such as wearing masks and sanitisation so that we could prevent further spread of the pandemic.
