Mysuru: H.V. Rajeev Sneha Balaga, Mysuru, which has been working towards promoting cleanliness by preventing environmental degradation through task oriented activities, has planned to increase green cover through seed ball culture for sustainable forest growth as part of its 159th Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan tomorrow from 7 am to 12 noon.
The Balaga will be holding ‘Green Chamundi Abhiyaan’ at Sri Shivananda Ashrama at the footsteps of Chamundi Hill on May 28 to initiate its efforts for a green canopy here.
Under its initiative, medicinal plants, shrubs, fruit-bearing and environmentally sustainable seed varieties will be planted through seed ball culturing.
Seed ball culture is an innovative method and is adopted by many communities to create sustainable forest.
The Balaga hopes that the method will promote home composting and also enable more green environs in the days to come. It is adopting the method for seed ball culture by utilising red soil, cow dung and urban compost mixture produced by Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) by using home-generated wet waste.
Members and employees of organisations and institutions such as Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Gramabhivruddhi Samsthe, Kalki Bhagavan Manavasevalaya, Sri Guru Raghavendra Samiti, Spandana Trust, People Tree, Swachha Mysuru Samsthe, Samarpana Foundation, Infosys and others will take part in the event.
