Mysore/Mysuru: Urging to make jobs of outsources Pourakarmikas, UGD Assistants and drivers of garbage transport vehicles permanent, the Pourakarmika Mahasangha of Karnataka State Corporation, City Municipal Council and Town Municipal Council will be staging a symbolic protest in front of the offices of all Deputy Commissioners (DCs) in the State tomorrow (May 19), said Mahasangha State President and former Mayor Narayan.
Addressing a press meet in city yesterday, Narayan said that there are 38,000 people including UGD Assistants, Contract Pourakarmikas and drivers of garbage transport vehicles working in various Civic Bodies across the State and added that the protest is being held to make these workers permanent.
Pointing out that the symbolic protest will be held from 11 am to 1 pm in front of all DC Offices in the State, Narayan said that the previous Siddharamaiah Government had abolished the contract system and had provided opportunity to all such Pourakarmikas to work under direct payment system. “Apart from the salary being paid by the Government, which was earlier given by the Contractor, there are no other benefits. This is something like, outsource had turned into in-source,” he said.
Stating that a deadline of one month is given to the Government to fulfil the demands, Narayan said that Vidhana Soudha Chalo agitation will be held if the Government fails to take up the issue besides stating that there were 2005 such employees in Mysuru, who should be made permanent.
MCC Permanent and Contract Pourakarmikas Mahasangha’s High Committee President N. Mara, President N. Mohankumar, General Secretary T. Srinivas and others were present.
