Selected for Karnataka Sangeetha Nritya Academy Book Prize

Mysore/Mysuru: ‘Nritya Shastra Manjari,’ a 500-page book written by Natyacharya Prof. K. Ramamurthy Rao of Mysuru has bagged the Book Prize instituted by Karnataka Sangeetha Nritya Academy.

The award, carrying a cash prize of Rs. 25,000 and a citation, will be presented at a programme to be held at Ravindra Kalakshetra in Bengaluru on Oct. 11 at 11 am.

The book contains 32 chapters and is useful for Bharatanatyam students, Gurus and even dance enthusiasts. Dr. Kabbinale Vasantha Bharadwaj has written foreword for the book which is published by Samvahana Prakashana of Mysuru.

Prof. Ramamurthy Rao has disciples across the country and abroad and is well-known as a Guru, writer and critic.

Collection of his columns titled ‘Samskrutika Samvada’ and ‘Masada Maatu’ have been published as books. Karnataka Sangeetha Nritya Academy has published Prof. Rao’s book titled ‘Natya Saraswathi Jatti Tayamma.’ He has been the editor of the book titled ‘Nritya Darpana’ with 32 articles.

He has been honoured by many organisations apart from the Honorary Award given by Karnataka Sangeetha Nritya Academy for the year 2005-06.
