Mysore/Mysuru: The book ‘Chennabasavannanavara Karana Hasige – Vygnanika Vishleshane’ authored by Dr. S. Shivanand Byalhunsi and Dr. Ajaykumar Thandoora, has been selected for Sri Shivarathreeshwara Award, instituted by Sri Shivarathreeshwara Religious Endowment for the year 2025.
Dr. Shivanand is a native of Byalhunsi village in Hoovinahadagali taluk. He is a retired Professor and has deep insights on vachana literature and Jain literary works. An orator par excellence, he has authored 19 valuable literary works including his own, translated literary works, along with serving on editorial board of literary volumes.
He has to his credit over 100 research papers, besides delivering lectures on diverse topics.
Dr. Ajay Kumar is a renowned psychiatrist, who has been involved in the treatment of mentally ill patients, at his Punyakoti Health Centre in Hospet for the past 25 years. He in involved in deep studies of Basavadi Sharana and has established Ishtalinga Study Centre to study into the scientific powers of Ishtalinga.
The award carries Rs. 25,000 purse and a plaque which will be conferred at the award ceremony to be held at Suttur Mutt in city on Apr. 15, according to a press release from the Director of JSS Mahavidyapeetha, Publication Wing.
