Mysore/Mysuru: Dr. H.C. Yashavantha Rao, a Scientist at Department of Biochemistry, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, has been chosen for Young Scientist Award (Research Grant) for the year 2020-21 by the Department of Health Research (DHR), Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, in newer area of cancer biology medical research.
Dr. Rao completed Ph.D. in Microbiology from University of Mysore (UoM) under the supervision of Prof. S. Satish, the Chairman at Department of Microbiology, UoM. He currently works on the discovery of new drugs for human breast and cervical cancers at the reputed Indian Institute of Science with Prof. C. Jayabaskaran.
DHR-ICMR has granted Rs. 29.82 lakh to Dr. Yashavantha Rao under Young Scientist scheme to work on the development of novel drugs for cancer.
