Mysuru: JSS Medical College and Hospital, Mysuru along with Narayana Health City, Bengaluru, has organised a seminar and awareness camp on Thalassemia at the Paediatric Seminar Hall, JSS Hospital here on Aug. 13 from 10 am to 1 pm.
Thalassemia is caused by variant or missing genes that affects the process of haemoglobin synthesis, the protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen. The seminar aims to create awareness among patients and parents about the causes and major symptoms of Thalassemia. Dr. M.D. Ravi, Director – JSS Hospital; Dr. Sunil Bhat, Senior Consultant and Head – Paediatric Haematology, Oncology and Blood & Marrow Transplantation, Mazumdar Shaw Cancer Centre, Narayana Health City, Bengaluru; Dr. Shobha Badiger, Consultant – Paediatric Haematology, Oncology and Blood & Marrow Transplantation, Mazumdar Shaw Cancer Centre and Dr. P.
