Seminar on  Sustainable and Clean Energy Technologies held

Mysuru: The Department of Mechanical Engineering, NIE Institute of Technology (NIE-IT), Koorgalli,  had organised a one-day National Seminar on ‘Recent Trends in Sustainable and Clean Energy Technologies’  at its premises here recently.

Dr. Shobha Anand Reddy, Research Associate, IISc., Bengaluru and Ex-Director, MGIRED, who inaugurated  the seminar, explained about Renewable Energy Technologies for India and role of Mechanical Engineers in its implementation.

Dr. T. Ananthapadmanabha, Principal, welcomed. Dr. T. Jayaraju,  Head, Mechanical Engineering Department, briefed about the Seminar topics. R.S. Rajkumar, Hon. Treasurer, NIE-MC, presided. Dr. R. Hemanth, Associate Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, proposed a vote of thanks.

Dr. Shashidhar Karinka, Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering, NMAMIT, Nitte, gave an insight into ‘Challenges in Biomass Gasification as an alternative to modern energy.’ Ravikumar Gurumurti, Quantum Sun-Solar Training & Consulting, spoke about ‘Opportunities in Solar PV Technology and its Applications.’ Dr. Lawrence Surendra, Chairman, The Sustainability Platform, DEHSSFIE, explained about ‘Green Economy.’

Around 200 delegates from various colleges including faculty members and students and engineers from industry participated in the programme compered by V. Vedamohan, Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering Department.
