Senior advocate Shashi Kiran Shetty appointed as new Advocate General

Bengaluru: The State Government has appointed senior Advocate and retired Lokayukta Justice P. Vishwanath Shetty’s son Shashi Kiran Shetty as the new Advocate General (AG) of the State.

He succeeds Prabhuling K. Navadgi, who served as the AG during the previous BJP regime.

Upon the Congress Government taking charge, discussions were held regarding the appointment of a new Advocate General. The names of senior lawyers such as Prof. K. Ravivarma Kumar, Kantaraj, Shashikiran Shetty, Vikram Huyilagola, Sandesha Chowta and A.G. Shivanna were being considered. Finally, Shashikiran Shetty was chosen for this key post. Shetty is an alumnus of National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru where he graduated with BA LLB (Hons) in 1998.
