Senior journalist Srinivasan no more

Mysore/Mysuru: Senior Journalist K.V. Srinivasan (82), who was popularly known as ‘Brother’ in Media circles, passed away at his residence in Kalkunike village in Hunsur taluk yesterday.

He was a bachelor and was ailing for some time. He was discharged from a Mysuru Hospital only on Thursday.

Srinivasan, who believed in Gandhian Philosophy, had a MA Degree in Journalism and a LLB Degree. He has two works — ‘Patrikodyamiyaagi Gandhiji’ and ‘Saha Barahagaarara Jaaheeratu’ — to his credit. He had served Akashvani as a Reporter from Oct. 1986 to Dec. 2007. Earlier, he had served many Newspapers published from Mysuru in various capacities.

He had won many awards and prizes during his decades’ long service to the field of Journalism, including Karnataka Patrika Academy Award, Senior Journalist Award given by MDJA, M. Venkatakrishnaiah (Thathaiah) Award, Mysuru District Kannada Sahitya Sammelana Award (2010) and Sri Shivarathreeshwara Media Award (2014) given by city’s JSS Mahavidyapeetha.

His body was kept at his farmhouse in Kalkunike this morning for the public to pay their last respects and last rites were performed at Hunsur this afternoon.
