Series of protests held in city

Mysuru: Urging for fulfilment of various demands, various organisations staged separate protests in city yesterday.

Rajya Bharat Mata Building Construction Workers Association: Demanding housing facility and identity cards for all construction workers, the members of the Association, led by its President G. Siddaraju staged a protest near Deputy Commissioner’s Office here.

The protestors raised slogans against the State Government alleging that the funds released for the construction of houses had not reached the beneficiaries.

BSNL: The members of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) All Union and Associations of Mysuru Telecom district staged a protest at Mathrumandali Circle in V.V. Mohalla here.

The protestors who demanded strengthening of BSNL alleged that the State-run Telecom was under the threat of closure and urged the State Government to take immediate measures to strengthen it.

Alleging that the Union Government had failed to implement the recommendations of the Third Pay Commission, the protestors said that the government was planning to establish a company to maintain mobile towers which would only benefit the private companies and demanded free 4G internet service to all BSNL customers. The protest was led by M. Mahadevappa.

Maharana Pratap Singh Rajput Kshatriya Samaj: Urging the Government not to allow screening of Hindi film ‘Padmavati,’ the members of the Samaj staged a protest in front of DC office here.

The members of the Samaj, who gathered in front of Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple at the North Gate of the Palace, took out a rally to the DC office, where they staged a protest.

They said that the film contained scenes which would hurt the sentiments of the public besides the film defaming Queen Padmavati. They demanded the State Government not to allow the releasing of the film.

Samaj President Sathyanarayan Singh, leaders Dr.B. Gopal Singh, Manjunath Singh and others were present.
